Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads blasphemous names. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

What does sea mean in prophecy?

Daniel 7:2. Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.

Is 57:20. But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

How many beasts did Daniel see coming up from the great sea?

Daniel 7:3. And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other.

What do the symbols of beast mean in prophecy?

Daniel 7:17. Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings/kingdoms, which arise out of the earth.

I would like to add further, that these beasts came up from the great sea and not from the shores of the great sea as many artists have depicted. What is the difference you may ask? Well in Rev 10:1.2., we have a picture of an angel who symbolizes Christ. The angel has one foot on the sea and one foot on the land. Therefore, one could say the angel is on the shore of the sea. This picture symbolizes that Christ has dominion and power over all the earth, the land and the sea. Rev 10:5.6.

However, the four beasts in Dan 7:3. Came up from the sea only, and not from the earth, the land and the sea. This means that the beasts came up from the most populated regions of the earth, which includes wicked peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues. This would include Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Therefore, I have not incorporated the traditional pictures of the beasts coming out of the shores of the sea. I am not an artist and therefore I am using normal pictures of a lion and a bear and you should use your imagination for the rest.

where else do we have a similar beast with ten horns in the Bible?

Dan 7:7.8. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly great. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots, And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.

(As we have studied in other words studies, the ten horns represent the ten early tribes of Europe. Three were plucked up e.g. Visigoths, Vandals and Ostrogoths. The little horn represents the papacy who was different from the ten political kingdoms because it was both political and religious. The beast in this text is the Roman Empire which was continued by the Holy Roman Empire being the Roman Catholic Church System. Notice that there are no seven heads on this beast as in the sea beast in Rev 13:1. This is because the ten horns representing the ten early tribes of Europe are just beginning, and the seven heads representing the seven religious heads or worldwide church denominations have not yet been formed).

O.K! We have found out from our word study that beasts in prophecy are symbols of super world empires like Babylon, Medio-Persia, Grecian and Roman Empire. The sea beast in Rev 13:1 is also a super world empire both religious, political and financial. This beast came out of the sea, just like the other beasts in Dan 7:3. The sea represents the wicked nations of the earth. Isaiah 57:20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea.

Rev 13:1.2. Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads

Rev 13:1. This sea beast has seven heads.

A word study to determine what heads mean in the prophetic writings of the Bible.

Rev 17:9. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.

Rev 17:10. These (seven heads) are also seven kings.

Rev 17:11 The beast (Satan) is himself also the eighth and of the seven (heads).

Rev 13:1. The seven heads coming out of the sea beast are similar in power and authority to the seven heads on scarlet beast which is Satan in Rev 17:3.

Dan 7:6.  And after this I looked, and there was another like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads and dominion was given to it. (The leopard beast is a symbol of the Grecian empire 331-168 B.C. and the four heads represent the four generals who took over from Alexander the Great. These kingdoms although they were military powers, also had a Hellenistic mythological influence on the world.).

Dan 2:37.38. You O King , are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength and glory; and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all – you are the head of gold. (King Nebuchadnezzar was the head of the political and spiritual empire of Babylon Dan 7:1-4. His kingdom was the symbol of a lions head).

Rev 4:4. Around the throne were 24 thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes and they had crowns of gold on their heads. (These are the spiritual advisers and representatives redeemed from the earth. Math 27:51-53).

Rev 9:7. The shape of the locusts were like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like faces of men. (This verse implies military  and religious persecutions with crowns of “Stefenoi” as a symbol of victory).

Rev 9:17. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions.

Rev 9:19.20. For their tails are like serpents having heads; and with them they do harm. But the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands –.

Rev 12:1. A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. (Twelve stars are twelve angels of the twelve churches, which are scattered abroad. Rev 1:20. James 1:1. ).

Rev 12:3. Behold a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. (The fiery red dragon represents Satan in Rev 12:9 and he has authority over the political powers in Europe and on the earth. Satan has also authority over the spiritual heads of the worldwide churches.

Who are the heads of these worldwide churches, which have fallen?

When looking on the internet under Google type, “List of Christian denominations by number of members,” and then look under Wikipedia; there is a list of the seven largest churches in the world:

1. Church of the east: 0.6 million.

2. Restoration and Non-Trinitarianism: 42-48 million.

3. Anglicanism: 85 million.

4. Oriental Orthodoxy: 86 million.

5. Eastern Orthodoxy: 225-300 million.

6. Protestantism: 800 million.

7. Roman Catholicism: 1.2 Billion.

Heads of these fallen churches can mean one person like a pope, archbishop or patriarch.

Rev 13:3. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. (The beast here is the Roman Catholic Church, and one of its heads is the papacy signifying religious and political power).

Rev 14:14. I looked and behold a white cloud, and on the cloud sat one like the Son of Man having on his head a golden crown and in his hand a sharp sickle. (This is Christ having authority to harvest the world of believers).

Rev 17:3. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. (The woman is the harlot representing the fallen churches worldwide and the seven heads are the representative heads of these fallen churches worldwide).

Rev 17:9. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. (Mountains are a symbol of political or religious kingdoms, (Dan 2:44.45), which these seven heads of the worldwide churches are).

Ps 18:43. You have made me the head of the nations. A people I have not known shall serve me. (King David was the spiritual and political leader of the Israelite kingdom).

Ps 27:6. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me. (King David talking about his power over his enemies).

Ps 60:7. Gilead is mine and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for my head, Judah is my lawgiver. (King David is saying that Ephraim is a helmet, a protection for his power).

Ps 68:21. But God will wound the head of his enemies. (Leaders and power of his enemies).

Is 7:8. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. The head of Samaria and the head of Samaria is Remliah´s son. (Head refers to political and spiritual leaders).

Is 59:17. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. (Head is related to salvation as a means of protection).

Mic 2:13. Their king will pass before them with the Lord at their head. (Spiritual leader).

Mic 3:1. Hear now O heads of Israel and you rulers of the house of Israel. (Spiritual and political rulers of Israel).

Acts 18:6. Your blood be upon your own heads. (Paul speaking to the Jews who rejected his gospel message. They will receive their punishment from the decision they made from their heads).

1 Cor 11:3. The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. (This text is referring to spiritual heads).

Ephes 1:22. And gave him to be head over all things to the church. (Christ is the head of the Church on earth).

Ephes 4:15. May grow up in all things into him who is the head – Christ. (Context is the body of Christ verse 12, which is the church and Christ is the head).

Ephes 5:23. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the Church – – -. (Christ is the spiritual head of the Church).

Col 1:18. And he is the head of the body, the church. (Spiritual head of the Church).

Col 2:10. And you are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power. (Christ is the head of all powers in the heavens and on earth).

Conclusion

The word “head” is related to the following: Seven heads are seven mountains. Seven heads are seven kings/kingdoms. The scarlet beast in Rev 17: (Satan) is the eighth and of the seventh head. Seven heads on the sea beast in Rev 13:1-3. Are the same as the seven heads on the scarlet beast in Rev 17: The four heads from the leopard beast in Dan 7: representing the kingdom of Greece,  has a combined political and a mythological influence.  King Nebuchadnezzar was the political and spiritual head of the Babylonian empire. Dan 2:37.38.The head is where the intelligence is situated, and is where moral and spiritual decisions are determined. Spiritual advisers. Crowns on heads symbolizes military victory. Serpent heads do harm. The woman in Rev 12: (The pure church) has a garland of twelve stars on her head symbolizing twelve angels of the twelve churches in the diaspora.

How shall we interpret heads symbolically in the Bible?

The mortally wounded head on the sea beast in Rev 13:1-3 represents the papacy as a political and religious power in the Roman Catholic Church. A golden crown on the head of Christ represents the authority to harvest the world of believers. The seven heads on the scarlet beast in Rev 17: represent the seven heads of the fallen churches worldwide. The seven heads in Rev 17: are seven mountains representing religious kingdoms Fx Dan 2:44.45. King David was the political and spiritual head of the Israelite kingdom. Head signifies power and protection. Head is related to salvation. Spiritual and political rulers. Christ is the head of all spiritual believers. Spiritual decisions. Christ is the head of the pure church on earth. Christ is the head of the body of the church. Christ is the head of all powers in the heavens and on the earth.

The dragon in Rev 12: represents Satan who has authority over the seven heads representing the seven heads of the worldwide fallen church.  The figure “seven” denotes completeness and seven entities in the book of Revelation. It so happens that there is a list of the seven largest churches worldwide.

(Satan is of the  seventh).

8. Satan: rules over all the churches of the world.

Heads of these fallen churches can mean a pope, archbishop, patriarch or spiritual governing body.

The beast with the seven heads indicate that this beast is a religious institution, because the seven largest churches in the world have sprung from this beast. What is the name of this religious institution? It is the papacy combined with Jesuits in the Roman Catholic Church system. This Church is where all Christian churches of today have evolved from. Because the seven heads are still part of the beast, this indicates that the Roman Catholic Church system has still influence over these churches even though they have separated from the mother church.

Rev 13:1.2. Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns,

What do horns mean in Bible prophecy?

Dan 7:20. And the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows. (This horn “the papacy,” is related to religious, military and political power which came up after the three horns that is three tribes of the ten early tribes of Europe fell).

Dan 7:21. I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints and prevailing against them. (This horn is related to a religious and military power, and the papacy made war against the saints during the Middle Ages).

Dan 7:24. The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; he shall be different from the first ones, and shall subdue three kings. (Ten horns are ten kings or ten kingdoms of the early tribes of Europe, and the little horn is different because it is a political and religious power, and is the papacy).

Dan 7;25. He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and he shall intend to change times and law. Verse 9. And out of one of them (that is the four winds of heaven) came a little horn (The papacy) which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east and toward the glorious land. Verse 10. The little horn (The papacy) cast some of the stars to the ground and trampled on them. Verse 11. He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of host. By him the Daily Sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. Verse 12. He cast truth down to the ground.

(The four horn kingdoms that followed Alexander the Great are Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus and Ptolemy).

Dan 8:23-25. (The little horn represents the papacy, a spiritual and political power in the Roman Catholic Church in this text). And in the latter time of their (the four kingdoms of Greece) kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their fullness, a king shall rise, having fierce features, who understands sinister schemes. His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; He shall destroy fearfully, and shall prosper and thrive; he shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people. Through his cunning deceit to prosper under his rule, and he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. He shall even rise against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without human means.

Rev 5:6. And I looked and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Seven horns are seven spirits of God).

Rev 9:13. Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God. (The four horns on the golden altar before God is the altar of incense. These horns were sprinkled with blood on the Day of Atonement and thereafter the Holy Place was cleansed. Lev 16:18-20).

Rev 17:12. The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. Verse 13. These (ten horn kings) are of one mind and they will give their power and authority to the beast. Verse 14. These will make war with the Lamb – – -. (These ten horns originate from the ten early tribes of Europe because the majority of  Christians lived in Europe , but the geographical situation changes to the whole world in this text because Christians live all around the world. And all nations will make war with the Lamb: Christ at Armageddon).

Rev 17:16. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. (The ten horns or political kings of the earth will make war with the harlot, being the fallen church of all denominations all over the earth).

Psalm 89:17. For you (God) are the glory of their strength, and in your favor our horn is exalted. (Horn is related to strength).

Conclusion

Horn is related to the following: The ten early tribes of Europe. The little horn represents the papacy. The little horn plucked up three horns (representing three tribes of early Europe: Visigoths, Vandals and Ostrogoths), it had eyes of a man and a mouth speaking pompous words. The little horn made war against the saints during the Middle Ages. The ten horns are ten kings. The little horn is different from the ten kings, because it is both religious and political. The little horn (the papacy) shall change times and laws Fx the Sabbath to Sunday in Gods ten commandments. The little horn shall reign 1,260 prophetical years (538-1798 A.D.) The goat with the notable horn is Alexander the Great of Greece. The goat´s large horn (Alexander the Great) was broken and four horns (Cassander, Seleucus, Ptolemy and Lysimachus) stood in its place. The little horn (papacy) exalted himself as high as the Prince of Host and took away the daily sacrifice and the sanctuary truth was cast to the ground. The four kings of the goat are four kingdoms. The two horns on the ram in Dan 8: represent Medo-Persia.

How shall we interpret horns symbolically in the Bible?

The horn is a power of strength and salvation. Seven horns are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. The four horns on the golden altar before God. The fiery red dragon in Rev 12: represents Satan who has authority over ten horns relating to political powers in Europe. The beast (Roman Catholic Church system) in Rev 13: has authority over the ten horns with crowns signifying the church has the power to guide the European powers on earth and through out the whole world. The beast with two horns like a lamb represents the two Christ like political powers in the USA, having political and military strength but speaks like the Dragon (Satan).

The ten horns in Rev 17: are ten kings, who have authority to reign with the scarlet beast (Satan), and make war with the Lamb (Christ at Armageddon). The harlot sat on a beast (Satan) with ten horns representing the political and powers of the world. These ten horns (in Rev 17:) are ten kings who receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast who is Satan. These ten kings will hate the harlot (the fallen worldwide church) and make her desolate and naked.

The horn of Moab is cut off (military power). The horn of David shall grow (strength and power). The Lord is the horn of my salvation and my stronghold.

Summary: The horn in prophecy is a symbol of political and military power guided by kings and kingdoms. The exception to this rule is the little horn, which is different; it is both a political and a religious power. The ten horns are part of the sea beast in Rev 13: and the scarlet beast in Rev 17: The ten horns representing the political powers of the world, form some kind of conglomerate with the worldwide church, the papacy and the protestants in the USA, to fight Christ at the war of Armageddon.

Who do the 10 horns represent in this chapter?

This beast has also ten horns. These ten horns in prophecy represent the ten early tribes of Europe:

  1. Ostrogoths.
  2. Visigoths.
  3. Franks.
  4. Vandal.
  5. Suevi.
  6. Alamanni.
  7. Anglo Saxons.
  8. Heruli.
  9. Lombards.
  10. Burgundians.

These ten horns are part of the beast indicating that the Roman Catholic Church System has authority over these European powers. How? We shall discuss this later on in Rev 17:

On the ten horns are ten crowns or ten diadems. In the Greek, diadem is “diadaimata” and means kingly crowns. This reinforces the interpretation that these ten horns are political powers who have the same authority has kings to govern the land.

On its heads were blasphemous names. The seven heads are the seven largest Christian churches in the world. But now we find out that they are not pure churches, but are fallen churches, because they have names of blasphemy on their heads.

Rev 13:1.2. Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads blasphemous names.

What does the word “blasphemy” mean in the Bible?

In the Greek the word blasphemy is “blasphamia.” In the Hebrew the word is “naqab” or “naats” meaning to pierce.

SDA Bible Dictionary: A term generally denoting abusive or defamatory language with respect to God or man.

Oxford Dictionary: Talk impiously, utter profanity, revile.

Webster’s Dictionary: To speak impiously of God and things regarded sacred. Contemptuous or irreverent speech about God or sacred things.

Lev 24:11. And the Israelite woman´s son (father was an Egyptian) blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed; verse 16. (The Lord spoke to Moses) And whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death.

Mat 9:3. The scribes said within themselves, “This man blasphemes.” (Context is where Jesus heals a paralytic in verse 2 and says to the paralytic, “Son be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.” Verse 6 The Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.) Why is Jesus criticized for being a blasphemer? Because in Mark 2:7 it says “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” What Jesus is saying here in the text that he is God and has the prerogative to forgive sins just like God.

Mark 3:28.29. I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of man, and whatever blasphemes they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation. (This blasphemy is continual sin against the Holy Spirit).

Luk 12:10. And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven. (The context is about confessing Jesus Christ before men and angels in verses 8.9.)

Joh 10:36. You are blaspheming because I (Jesus) said, “I am the Son of God?”

Acts 13:44.45. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. (The context is Acts 13:13.41. where Paul preached Christ at the synagogue at Antioch in Pisidia. In verse 38. Paul preached the forgiveness of sins through Christ alone and justification).

Acts 18:6. When they (the Jews in Corinth) opposed him and blasphemed, he (Paul) shook his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles). (This is after Paul preached about Jesus Christ to the Jews on a Sabbath in their synagogue. The Jews refused Christ and the testimony of Paul).

Rom 2:24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you. (“You” are the Jews living in Rome). Context: Rom 2:17-24. Paul is talking about the Jews keeping the law of God: The Ten Commandments. He says they boast of keeping the law but practice otherwise like they steal. Verse 21. Commit adultery. Verse 22. Rev 17:3. So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Conclusion

The word blaspheme is related to the following: Speak impiously of God. Against the Holy Spirit. Curse the name of God. Power to forgive sins. Breaking the law. Rejecting faith and a good conscience. Honor a slave´s master and Gods doctrine of godliness. Word of God. Denying the name of Jesus Christ. Claiming to be the Son of God. The tabernacle of God and those who dwell in heaven. The beast from the sea who ruled for 1,260 years during the Middle Ages. Opposing the Bible, the gospel and God. Jews say they keep the commandments of God put practice the opposite in their lives. Rejecting faith and a good conscience. Christians say they are believers but practice otherwise in their lives. Negative words against Moses and God. Sin is related to blasphemy. Persecuting Christ and his followers. Words and a form of godliness but denying its power. Contradicting Gods words. Denying Christ. Refusing to keep the law of God. Refusing to keep the Ten Commandments. Excuse not to believe in God. Lies in God’s name. Making oneself God. False Christian believers. The power to forgive sins is belongs to God only.

These definitions give an overview of what blasphemy means from a Bible word study. They also reinforce that the seven heads are fallen churches in Gods eyes.

Rev 13:2. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion.

Where do the pictures of these beasts come from in the Bible? They come from Dan 7:3-6. The sea beast from Rev 13:1 looked like a leopard, which represented the Grecian empire. Out of the Grecian empire came Hellenism, which had everything to do with learning in Europe, Greek history, Greek language, Greek culture and Greek mythology pertaining to many mythological gods. The sea beast had feet like a bear. The feet of a bear in Dan 7:3-6 represents the Medo-Persian Empire. The feet represent speed when running after its prey and the claws on the feet represent that the victim is clawed and mauled to death in a cruel fashion. The mouth of a lion represents the Babylonian Empire. When a lion roars with its mouth, then all the beasts of the forest become afraid. When a lion attacks its victim, it devours with its mouth.

A short word study on the word lion in the book Revelation.

Rev 4:7. (The four living creatures in the midst of the throne in heaven and around the throne). The first living creature was a lion.

Rev 5:5. Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals. (This lion represents Christ).

Rev 9:8. They had hair like women´s hair, and their teeth were like lion´s teeth. (Refers to Moslem soldiers in the Ottoman Empire going to war against their enemies. They crush their enemies like a lion crushes its prey).

Rev 10:1-3. I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. He had a book in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. (This mighty angel is Christ and raises his voice like a lion).

Rev 13:2. (A beast coming out of the sea). Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. (The sea beast represents the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church system all around the world. When they talk like a lion the nations tremble because of their power and authority).

Conclusion

Lion represents Christ in prophecy, then power, Moslem soldiers at war against their enemies, Christ with a loud voice of authority, and the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church system who talk with a religious  power and authority to cause nations to tremble.

These are the traits, which the sea beast has developed over the years. Hellenism from the Grecian Empire, speed and cruel deaths from the Medo-Persian Empire, and nations become afraid of the roaring lion who devours everything that stands in its way. These are the traits that the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church system has developed over the years. The majority of the members are oblivious over what is happening behind the scenes of this worldwide church. But there is a powerful group of men operating behind the cloak of this church, and their main aim is, to retrieve their lost dominion and that is, power over the whole of the world: The Holy Roman Empire. Who are these men? The Jesuits.

Who are the Jesuits?

Ignatius Loyola

Ignatius Loyola founded the dedicated and powerful Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Ignatius a Spanish nobleman was born in 1491 or 1495 at the castle of Loyola near the Pyrenees. His career as a professional soldier ended with a leg wound in 1521. Through reading lives of Christ and the saints while convalescing, Loyola resolved to become Christ´s soldier. He hung up his sword at the altar of Mary in Montserrat. Ignatius then spent a year (1522-23) in prayer and meditation at Manresa monastery, seeking total consecration to Christ. He was much blessed. Here he drafted his Spiritual Exercises. Between 1524 and 1534 Loyola studied at Barcelona, Alcala, Salamanca and Paris preparing for service. Then he and six friends vowed to practice poverty and celibacy to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem (this never came off), and to give the rest of their lives to apostolic labors. In this way, the Society of Jesus began. “Jesuits”, as its members were called, vowed total obedience to the pope as, in effect, Commander-in-chief, and under him to the general of the order. Ignatius, a fine organizer, was general until his death in 1556[1].

By 1556 there were over a thousand Jesuits-mainly in Spain. Portugal and Italy, but also in France, Germany, the Low Countries, India, Brazil and Africa. By 1626 there were 15,544, and during the next 130 years the Jesuits grew slowly but steadily. Jesuits were working in almost every corner of the globe.

Jesuits reached a peak of 36,038 members in 1964. – – -. During the seventeenth and early eighteenth century a high percentage of the educated Catholic people of Europe passed through Jesuit schools.- – -. Today, the Jesuits run about 4,000 schools, including eighteen universities in the United States[2].

Though the Jesuit society spread rapidly in Italy, Spain, and Portugal, it was slower in gaining strong foothold in France and Germany, but by the latter half of the sixteen century, it was the advance-guard of the Counter-Reformation. Its chief agencies were preaching, the confessional, its excellent schools-not for the multitudes, but for the well-born and well-to-do[3].

As against his own subjects, Louis XIV`s policy was determined by his conception of national unity and Jesuit influence, especially after his marriage to Madame de Maintenon in 1684; in 1685 he revoked the Edict of Nantes, and made Protestantism illegal under the severest penalties. The ultimate result was disastrous for France. Thousands of its most industrious citizens emigrated to England, Holland, Germany, and America – – -. For France the expulsion of the Huguenots and the triumph of the Jesuits were great misfortunes.

The latter half of the eighteenth century brought to the Jesuits their greatest catastrophe – – -. A large part of the French clergy were also hostile to the Jesuits. In 1764 the Jesuits were suppressed in France. Spain and Naples expelled them in 1767. The rulers of these lands now forced from Pope Clement XIV (1769-1774) the abolition of the order in July, 1773[4].

The tremendous storm of the French Revolution was about to break and to sweep away the church, with the nobility, the throne, and kindred ancient institutions. The Revolutionary leaders were filled with the rationalistic spirit. They viewed the churches as religious clubs. In 1789 church lands were declared national property. In 1790 the monasteries were abolished.

Then in 1793 came a royalist and Catholic uprising in La Vendee and in retaliation, the Jacobin leaders sought to wipe out Christianity. Hundreds of ecclesiastics were beheaded. After the “terror” was over, in 1795, religious freedom was once proclaimed, through the state, as such, was to be without religion – – -. In 1798 Rome was made a republic by French arms, and Pope Pius VI (1775-1799) carried a prisoner to France, where he died.

The military events of 1800 led to the election of Pius VII (1800-1823) and the restoration of the states of the Church. Napoleon, on attaining power, though himself without religious feeling, recognized that a majority of the French people were Roman Catholic, and that the church might be used by him. The result was the Concordat with the papacy in 1801 and the Organic Articles of 1802.

Napoleon

Napoleon, crowned Emperor by the pope in 1804, soon quarreled with Pius VII, annexed the States of the Church in 1809, and held the pope a prisoner from that time till 1814 – – -. Napoleon´s downfall in 1815 was followed by universal reaction – – -. The papacy profited by all these impulses and soon developed a strength greater that it had shown for a hundred years. A characteristic evidence of this new position of the papacy was restoration, by Pius VII, in August, 1814, of the Jesuits, who speedily regained their old ascendancy in papal counsels[5].

If you look in Dan 11:40 www.ayin.dk under the heading “Who are the Jesuits?” You will find a modern update explanation that fits in our day and age. We find that the Jesuits are not a fictitious group of people named under a conspiracy theory like many advocate. They are the backbone of the Roman Catholic Church and they answer only to the Black Pope and him alone, who has the highest authority in the church.

Rev 13:2. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

Who does the dragon represent in Rev 13:2?

Rev 12:17 The dragon was enraged with the woman and he went to make war with rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Rev 12:3. And another sign appeared in heaven, behold a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads.

Rev 12:4. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her child as soon as it was born.    (Refers to Satan who led king Herod to kill all the infants in Bethlehem in an attempt to kill the child Jesus Christ. Math 2:16-18).

Rev 12:5. She bore a child. (Refers to the child Christ).

Rev 12:6. The woman (the protestant church) fled into the wilderness for 1,260 days. Rev 12:13.14. The dragon persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for e time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

Rev 12:7. And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought. (Michael is another name for Christ, and the dragon is Satan).

Rev 12:9. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Rev 13:3.4. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshipped the dragon who gave authority to the beast, (in Rev 13:1.2.)

Rev 13:11. The beast (USA) he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon (Satan).

Rev 16:13. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Conclusion

The dragon in prophetic writings is without a doubt the Devil or Satan working through political and religious institutions. The scarlet beast is Satan. Satan comes out of the bottomless pit. Satan worked through the papacy and the leaders of the French revolution to destroy the Bible and all true Christians in France. Satan is bound for 1,000 years on this earth after Christ´s second coming. The beast in Rev 13:3.8. and the Dragon in Rev 12:3. Are related to one another through the seven heads and the ten horns. Satan himself is the beast in Rev 17:3. Satan is related to the beast in Rev 13:1. and the beast in Rev 13:11. Satan himself is the beast in Rev 17:3.8. Satan is the Dragon in Rev 12:3.9.

Who gave the sea beast in Rev 13:1 his power, his thrown and great authority? The Bible says it is the Devil or Satan who is behind this religious world empire. And he is using this church to deceive the whole world by going against the Holy Bible, the word of God.

Who does the wounded head represent in this text?

Rev 13:3. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.

The head is not the beast and the beast is not the head in this text. The head is part of the seven heads coming from the beast. The seven heads are representing the seven heads of the largest churches in the world as mentioned in Rev 13:1. This head, which was mortally wounded, is the papacy, the spiritual head of the Roman Catholic church.

Even so the head was mortally wounded, it did not mean the end of the Roman Catholic Church system around the the world. This beast was still alive and thriving.

The beast represents the Roman Catholic Church System all over the world and is ruled by the papacy. The seven heads of different Christian churches come from the beast: the Roman Catholic Church System. One of its heads refers to the beasts’ heads and is the papacy i.e., The pope.

Where in the history of the papacy do we find a pope who seems to be slaughtered to death, and his deadly wound was healed?

When was this papal head mortally wounded?

Pope Pius VI

In 1798, Rome was made a republic by the French. On the 15 Feb, 1798, General Bertier at the head of the French army, entered Rome, declared the political rule of the papacy at an end, and took Pope Pius VI (1775-1799) a prisoner to France, where he soon died in July, 1799. Furthermore, Napoleon realizing that the majority of the French people were Roman Catholics, thought that he could use the church for his political policies, made use of a Concordat between him and the papacy. However, Napoleon crowned Emperor by the pope in 1804, soon quarreled with Pius VII, annexed the States of the Church in 1809, and held the pope a prisoner from that time till 1814 – – -. Napoleon´s downfall in 1815 was followed by universal reaction – – -. The papacy profited by all these impulses and soon developed a strength greater that it had shown for a hundred years. A characteristic evidence of this new position of the papacy was restoration, by Pius VII, in August, 1814; of the Jesuits, who speedily regained their old ascendancy in papal counsels.

“A significant event occurred in 1929 when the Lateran Treaty restored temporal power to the pope, who was given the rule of the Vatican City, a section of the city of Rome about 108.7 acres in extent.[6]” So the papacy, was mortally wounded by Napoleon, but this wound was healed over time and the papacy gained strength with the help of the Jesuits.

And the whole world marveled and followed the beast.

We must remember that the head is not the beast and the beast is not the head. The papacy is not the Roman Catholic Church, it is part of a system governing the Roman Catholic Church. So, when the whole world marveled and followed the beast, we are talking about the  Roman Catholic Church system as a whole. This part of the Bible prophecy is to be fulfilled in the future, because the whole world does not follow the beast as of yet.

Rev 13:3. the whole world marveled and followed the beast.

The whole world includes China and Russia, but they do not follow the beast. So what does the whole world mean in this passage?

In the Greek it says not the whole world but the whole earth “γή – gay.”

The whole earth can have different meanings judging according to the context of the text. Fx.

Rev 14:7. Worship him that made heaven and earth. (This would mean where worshippers of God lived in the world).

Rev 7:1. Standing on the four corners of the earth. (This would mean the whole earth 100%).

Rev 12:16. The earth helped the woman. (This would mean a local place on the earth. The woman who represents the Protestant church which was persecuted by the papacy and escaped to countries like Holland, England and North America).

Rev 13:11. Another beast coming up out of the earth. (This would mean the beast representing the USA coming from the land of North America).

Rev 13:8. All that dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life. (This would mean the whole of the world).

In Rev 13:3 when looking at the context, the whole world refers to where the Roman Catholic papacy has ruled during the 42 months (538-1798) that is during the Middle ages. Rev 13:5. They ruled the whole of Europe.

Conclusion

After the papal head was wounded in 1798 the whole world followed the beast. That is to say after the Dark Middle Ages the whole world followed the beast which repesents the papacy in the Roman Catholic Chuech system. How?

How can the USA, the nations in Europe, Russia and China follow the beast. He who controls the worlds finances controls the worlds political nations. To understand what I mean read my understanding of the text Revelation 13:18 about the meaning of the figures 666. It is the papacy who controls the worlds finances along with worlds millionaires who belong to an elite group of men who want to dominate the world.

Rev 13:4. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

The dragon is Satan who gave authority to the beast who is the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church system. Many peoples of the world will come to worship and be members of the Roman Catholic Church in the future because of the following events in this chapter. Who is able to make war with him? Describes how it is impossible to make war with the most largest, religious, financial and political institution in the world. No nation will even try to make war with the Roman Catholic Church system. Not even Putin from Russia.

Who does the dragon represent in this text?

Rev 12:9. So the dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world.

Who is the beast a symbol of in this text?

The papacy in the Roman Catholic Church System.

Who are “they” who worshipped the beast? They would mean all people in the world whether they want to or not. If a church controls your bank account, you bow down and worship the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church System whether you like it or not.

Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?

The beast is the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church System. Because the papacy is both a religious, a political power, and a financial power, no country on earth can make war with the papacy. The papacy can make dogmas enforcing a whole nation to their knees when they withhold the last rights at a funeral, withhold the blessings from a pope to a king or control a country´s finances.

Rev 13:5. And he was given a mouth speaking things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to make war for forty-two months.

What does “speaking great things” in prophecy mean?

Daniel 7:11. I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn (The papacy) was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.

Daniel 7:20. And the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows. (The ten horns are a symbol of the ten tribes of Europe. The three horns which fell are: The Vandals in 534, the Ostrogoths in 538 and the Visigoths in 508. These three tribes believed in the Arian theology, that is that Jesus Christ was a created being and did not exist with God from eternity. The little horn a symbol of the papacy came up after these three tribes fell).

Daniel 7:25. He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, he shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time. (1,260 years = 538-1798 referring to the papal reign during the Middle Ages. The papacy changed God´s law of the Ten Commandments by deleting the Sabbath day and doubling the covet commandment).

“Therefore, the decision of the pope and the decision of God constitutes one decision. The pope alone is said to be the vicar of God; wherefore only what is bound and loosed by Him is held to be bound and loosed by God himself.”[8]

“The pope is of so great authority and power that he can modify, explain or interpret even divine laws (Change of the sabbath day).”[9]

As regards to the persecution of the saints, over 50 million Roman Catholic members of the church were killed because they protested against the papacy and believed in the Bible during the Middle Ages. www.cs.unc.edu/-plaisted/estimates.html on Google.

Papacy: The system of ecclesiastical government in which supreme authority is vested in the pope.[10]

The priests forgive sins of which this prerogative lies with God alone. Mark 2:7.[11]

Canon 1: If any one saith, that in the mass a true and proper sacrifice is not offered to God; or, that to be offered is nothing else but that Christ is given to eat; let him be anathema. Canon 2: If anyone says Christ did not institute the apostle’s priests; or, did not ordain that they and other priests should offer his own body and blood; let him be anathema.[12]

We therefore confess that the Sacrifice of the Mass is and ought to be considered one and the same sacrifice as that of the cross, for the victim is one and the same, namely, Christ our Lord. Thus (the priests) acting in the Person of Christ the Lord, he changes the substance of bread and wine into the true substance of His body and blood. “Catechism of the Council of Trent for Parish Priests.”[13]

Dan 7:25. He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law.

As regards to the persecution of the saints, over 50 million were killed by the papacy during the Middle Ages. See my websites www.ayin.dk and www.ayindk.com

Rev 13:11. Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. (The beast coming out of the earth is a symbol of the USA in North America. The dragon is a symbol of Satan or the Devil Rev 12:9. When this nation speaks like Satan it will have the power to persecute dissenters who disagree with their policies of belief e.g., Rev 13:12-18).

Rev 13:15. He (USA) was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast (papacy), that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. (USA and the papacy shall take part in a union to persecute the saints who keep the Ten Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ Rev 12:17. 14:12. The image to the beast is related to the opposite of those who keep the Ten Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ i.e., Sunday worship with the papacy at the head of all Christian churches in the new worlds order).

Conclusion

“Speaking” in prophecy is related to laws backed up with persecution, with the intent of destroying those who refuse to obey religious edicts from the USA. The USA will speak like a dragon using laws and persecution against those who refuse to bow down to her policies introducing false worship. The papacy introduced laws persecuting the saints during the Middle Ages and over 50 million members of the Roman Catholic Church were killed because they believed in the Bible and not the pope’s false religious doctrines. The papacy spoke pompous words against the Most High God by using God´s authority and saying he is the vicar of God on earth and God´s decision and the pope´s decision are the same.

Rev 13:5. And was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemy.

What does “speaking blasphemy” mean in the Bible?

Matthew 9:3. And once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This man blasphemes!”

Matthew 9:2. Then behold, they brought to him a paralytic lying om a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.”

Then the scribes accused Christ of blasphemy. Why? Because he forgave sins which is the prerogative of only God can do. Mark 2:7. Why does this man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?

In this text Christ was revealing to the scribes that he was God.

This study on blasphemy is fully written out in Rev 13: 1. on this page.

Conclusion

The word blasphemy in short is referring to the power to forgive sins which is the prerogative of God only. The papacy in the Roman Catholic church use this power when priests and the papacy forgive the sins of their members.

Rev 13:6. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling and those in heaven.

This verse gives us the exact proof of that the beast is referring to the Roman Catholic Church system by comparing the prophecies of the book of Daniel with the book of Revelation. In Daniel 7:25 it says: He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time.

Rev 13:6. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, his tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

What does “dwelling” mean in the Bible?

In the Greek the word is σκηνήν = a dwelling or tabernacle.

Matthew 17:4. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord it is good for us to be here; if you wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.

Acts 7:42.43. Did you offer me slaughtered animals and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel? You also took up the tabernacle of Moloch and the star of your god Remphan, images which you made to worship. (Place for worshipping a false god).

Acts 7:44. Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen. (Refers to the tabernacle place of worship for the Israelites in the wilderness).

Acts 15:16. After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; so the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by my name – – -. (This refers to the house or lineage of David. Christ came from the house of David. Gentiles will seek the Lord when the gospel is preached to them).

Hebrews 8:1.2. We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. (The heavenly sanctuary where Christ is our High Priest. Heb 4:14).

Hebrews 9:2-4. (Greek). For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the Holy Place; and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, which had the golden altar and the ark of the covenant having been covered round on all sides with gold, in which a jar golden having the manna and the rod of Aaron the one having budded and the tablets of the covenant – – -.

Hebrews 9:6.7. The priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing services. But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people´s sins committed of ignorance.

Hebrews 9:21.22. Both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the service he sprinkled with blood. And almost all things are cleansed according to the law, and without shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. (After the earthly sanctuary in Jerusalem ceased to exist in God´s eyes at the crucifixion of Christ, the sanctuary was transferred to heaven and dedicated there with Christ´s blood. Matt 27:51).

Hebrews 11:9. (Abraham). By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.

Revelation 15:5. After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. (Heavenly sanctuary).

Revelation 21:3. Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people.

Conclusion

Tabernacle or dwelling is related to the following: dwelling place for men, place for worshipping false god´s, the earthly tabernacle or sanctuary in the wilderness, the lineage and house of David, the heavenly sanctuary where Christ is High Priest, the tabernacle with the first apartment the Holy Place containing lampstand, table of showbread, The Most Holy apartment containing the golden altar (on the day of atonement and up in heaven), ark of the covenant, golden jar of manna, rod of Aaron and the tablets of covenant. The tabernacle of God is with men in heaven.

How does the papacy blaspheme God, his name, his tabernacle and those who dwell in heaven?

How does the papacy blaspheme God? In the book Daniel A Readers Guide, it says “(The Bishop of Rome) took the title, “Vicar of the Son of God,” meaning that he stood in place of the Son of God to represent Him here on earth. Compare also the title of “holy father” with Jesus’ comments about the use of that title in a religious setting in Matthew 23:9. Note too, Jesus´s claim to be God and have the power to forgive sins, was blasphemy in the eyes of the Jews. (see Matthew 9:2-6).[7]

How does the papacy blaspheme Gods’ tabernacle? 2 Thess 2:3.4. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

In the book Great Controversy page 55, “The accession of the Roman Church to power marked the beginning of the Dark Ages. As her power increased, the darkness deepened. Faith was transferred from Christ, the true foundation, to the pope of Rome. Instead of trusting in the Son of God for forgiveness of sins and for eternal salvation, the people looked to the pope, and to the priests and prelates to whom he delegated authority. They were taught that the pope was their earthly mediator and that none could approach God except through him; and further, that he stood in the place of God to them and was therefore to be implicitly obeyed.”

Forgiveness of sins, was transferred from the tabernacle in heaven Heb 8:1.2. Heb 4:14-16., from Christ as our High Priest, to the pope and his priests on earth. This is blasphemy in the eyes of God and the Bible.

Rev 13:7. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue and nation.

Sct. Bartholomew´s day massacre 24 August, 1572.

The problem with this text is, which period of time are we talking about? The Dark Middle Ages where over 50 million Roman Catholic believers were killed by the papacy or does this refer to a future event as described in Rev 16:12-16 the battle of Armageddon.

In Dan 7:25 It says about the Little Horn (Dan 7:8.24) “He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High.” The papacy at this point of time during the Dark Middle Ages did not have all authority granted to it. However, in Rev 13:7 the papacy had all the authority and power in the world to administer persecutions against the saints of the Most High. Furthermore, the papacy has authority over every tribe, tongue and nation. This the papacy has never had before. Therefore, it is applying to a future event, when the papacy has control over the whole of the world.

The word granted or given is “edothay” in the Greek. This means that the papacy has not the power to make war with the saints without it being given to him from another authority. The first authority is direct from the dragon or Satan. Rev 13:4. Another authority has to come from the ten horns (political authorities of the world) and from the seven heads (religious authorities of the world) before one goes into the war of Armageddon. So this part of the Bible prophecy is yet in the future. It will be fulfilled in Rev 16:12-16 and Rev 17:9-14.

The New World Order

Rev 13:8. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Here is a Bible prophecy yet to be fulfilled in the future. All will be made, to worship in the Roman Catholic Church worldwide. All those who do not have their names written in the book of Life. How do we get our names written in the book of life? By believing in the Lamb of God, who was slain from the foundation of the world. Who is the Lamb of God? John the Baptist pointed to Jesus when he baptized him at the river Jordan. He said “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” Joh 1:29. To get our names written in the book of life, we need to believe in Jesus Christ as our own personal savior. Joh 3:16. We need to repent of our sins and be baptized with adult baptism. Acts 2:38. Ask forgiveness of our sins and be born again as new Christians. Joh 3:1-7.This is a personal experience, which can only be achieved through the Holy Spirit. On top of that, we need to practice Christianity by daily keeping all the ten commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Rev 14:12. 12:17

Introduction to Revelation 17: One of the greatest errors in prophetic interpretation https://www.ayindk.com/introduction-rev-17/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=introduction-rev-17 Thu, 07 Jan 2016 17:00:00 +0000 http://ayin.dk/?page_id=630 One of the greatest errors in prophetic interpretation by many Protestant theologians is the interpretation of heads and beasts in Rev 17:3.7.9-11. What they are saying is, a head represents a beast and a beast represents a head in prophetic interpretation. Therefore, a head is a symbol for a political empire. This is absolutely nonsense and goes against all interpretations of prophetical symbols. This is pure speculation and has nothing to do with Biblical exegesis. What they are doing is eisegesis: reading into the text what is not there, and then they reinforce each other’s argument by quoting from each other’s comments on Revelation. What they are saying is 1 + 1 = 3, and because they are professors of theology many people believe them.

Revelation of Jesus Christ by Ranko Stefanovic

The following is a quote from one of the most prominent theologians in the Seventh-day Adventist church on the book of Revelation: the right honorable Ranko Stefanovic.

Ranco Stefanovic

Stefanovic writes in his commentary “Revelation of Jesus Christ[1].” Several modern commentators interpret the seven kings as Roman Emperors: five have fallen (Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, and Nero), one ruled in John´s time (Vespasian), and the seventh, Titus, would be the one to come. The eighth one that was not yet would be Domitian as the returned Nero.

On page 521, he states, “This commentary argues that the sixth head/king, which “is,” must be understood from John´s viewpoint at the time of the writing of Revelation, in other words, the angel identified the heads/kings to John, and it must have had meaning for John when he wrote. Thus, the five that have fallen can be listed as follows: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. The kingdom that ruled the world and oppressed the church during the time of John was Imperial Rome (the sixth kingdom). The seventh kingdom to come from John´s perspective referred to medieval ecclesiastical Christianity represented in the sea beast that was mortally wounded in Revelation 13:1-10.” (The sea beast who he is writing about is the Roman Catholic Church).

The reason for this error of prophetic interpretation of heads and beasts is, that the scarlet beast which is Satan, is the eighth head and part of the seventh. Therefore, many Protestant theologians conclude that a head in prophetic interpretation represents a beast and a beast represents a head. This is one of the greatest mistakes in prophetic interpretation.

A beast does not represent a head and a head does not represent a beast in prophetic interpretation, with the exception of the scarlet beast in Rev 17:3 and the sea beast in Rev 13:1-10. Why this exception? Because these beasts represent spiritual empires, and they are the heads of spiritual empires, in the present and in the future.

In the English language this picture is the whole beast

In the English language this picture is the head of a beast

Stefanovic is not doing an exegesis on the symbol of heads but eisegesis: reading into the text what is not there. This is pure speculation in what he says, and then he backs it up with other theologians who have the same interpretation. He is a most respected Seventh-day Adventist theologian, and Adventist theologians and ministers are usually at the forefront of prophetic interpretation. None can replicate their studies in the studies of the books of Daniel and Revelation. However, when we have a theologian that tries to agree with other Protestant theologians, so that he can sell a book, then I draw the line, and we are on our way going downhill with the understanding of prophetic interpretation.

You can see my study, from the Bible and Bible only, on what heads mean in Rev 17:9-11.

Revelation 17:9-11 Who do the seven heads represent? https://www.ayindk.com/rev-179-11/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rev-179-11 Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:00:00 +0000 http://ayin.dk/?page_id=646 Rev 17:9-11. Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seventh, and is going to perdition.

What do mountains mean in Biblical prophecy?

A short word study to find out what “mountains” mean in Biblical prophecy.

Psalms 48:1-3. In the city of our God – In the holy mountain. The joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion on the sides of the north. The city of the great king. God is in her palaces. He is known as her refuge. (Mount represents the city of God on Mount Zion in Jerusalem).

Psalm 125:1. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

Es 14:13. (The subject is Lucifer in verse 12). For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will also sit on the mount of the congregation – – -. (Mount refers to a congregation of being up in heaven).

Es 40:4. And every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low. (This is the text that John the Baptist used for himself and his mission to prepare the way for the Messiah to come. His message was for sinners to repent and give their hearts to God. Sinners therefore will be exalted and the proud leaders, representing mountains of Israel will be made low).

Jerm 51:24.25. And I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all the evil they have done in Zion in your sight, says the Lord. Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, who destroys all the earth, says the Lord. And I will stretch out my hand against you, roll you down from the rocks and make you a burnt mountain. (Babylon is referred to as destroying burnt mountain which is a kingdom).

Ezek 6:1-4. Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord to the mountains, to the hills, to the ravines, and to the valleys: Indeed, I, even I, will bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places. Then your altars shall be desolate, your incense altars shall be broken, and I will cast down your slain men before your idols!” (These are the Israelites who worshipped in idols on mountains. Mountains are a symbol of false worship).

Ezek 33:28.29. For I will make the land (Judah) most desolate, her arrogant strength shall cease, and the mountains of Israel shall be so desolate that no one will pass through. Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. (Mountains are related to the abominations of false worship by the inhabitants of Israel).

Ezek 35:15. As you rejoiced because the inheritance of the house of Israel was desolate, so I will do to you; you shall be desolate O mount Seir, as well as all of Edom – all of it. Then they shall know that I am the Lord. (Mount Seir in this text is a symbol of Edom. Seir is from the root meaning to be hairy. This was the name of the head of the Horite family connected by marriage with Esau, from whom descended the Edomites. ((1))

Ezek 36:1. And you son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say, “mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord. ( Ezekiel is calling to the spiritual nation of Israel to repent of their sins Verse 26. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you: I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Verse 27. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes).

Ezek 39:1-4. (A prophesy against Gog). I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the people who are with you. I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to beasts of the field to be devoured. (The mountains of Israel is referring to the military part of Israel).

Amos 6:1. Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, notable persons in the chief nation, to whom the house of Israel comes! (Mountains refer to notable persons in Samaria of unbelievers).

Mal 1:3. But Esau I have hated, and laid waste his mountain and his heritage. (Mountain is related to Esau´s inheritance of unbelievers).

Dan 2:35. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth. Verse 44. And in those days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. (Mountain refers to Gods spiritual kingdom beginning on earth and continuing in heaven).

Luk 3:5. And every mountain and hill brought low. (John the Baptist message was one of repentance for the remission of sins to the people of Israel. Sinners therefore will be exalted and the proud leaders, representing mountains of Israel will be made low).

John 4:20-23. (The woman at the well). Our fathers worshiped on this mountain. Jesus said to her, “The hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. but the hour is coming, and is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.” (Mountain is related to a place of worship).

Rev 16:20. Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (This verse is in context with Rev 16:17-21. The seventh plague: An earthquake hits Babylon and divides the city into three parts Rev 17:1-6. It would be difficult to understand Rev 16:20 if every mountain disappeared literally all over the earth. Symbols are used in this text like Babylon. Therefore, mountains should be used symbolically and they mean in this text, religious and political kingdoms of the earth.

Conclusion

Mountains are related to the following: City of God. Trust in the Lord. Mount of congregation in heaven. Proud rich men and religious leaders. Babel is a destroying mountain. Mountains of Israel are high places of idolatrous worship. Mount Seir in Edom is related to Esau´s unbelieving descendants. Mountains of Israel are unbelievers in Israel. Mountains of Samaria are notable unbelieving persons. Mountain is related to Gods kingdom on earth and heaven. Place of worship. Religious and political kingdoms of the earth.

(King Nebuchadnezzar was the head of the political and spiritual empire of Babylon).

When looking on the internet under Google type, “List of Christian denominations by number of members,” and then look under Wikipedia; there is a list of the seven largest churches in the world: or www.kids.kiddle.co/list_of_christian_denominations_by_number_of _members

1. Church of the east: 0.6 million.

2. Restoration and Non-Trinitarianism: 42-48 million.

3. Anglicanism: 85 million.

4. Oriental Orthodoxy: 86 million.

5. Eastern Orthodoxy: 225-300 million.

6. Protestantism: 800 million.

7. Roman Catholicism: 1.2 Billion.

Heads of these fallen churches can mean one person like a pope, archbishop or patriarch or a group of spiritual leaders.

Mark 12:10. The stone which the builders rejected, has become the head cornerstone. (This is referring to Christ as the head of all spiritual believers).

The mortally wounded head on the sea beast in Rev 13:1-3 represents the pope as a religious head of the Roman Catholic Church.

(Satan is of the  seventh).

8. Satan: rules over all the churches of the world.

Heads of these fallen churches can mean a pope, archbishop or patriarch.

Rev 17:10. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.

  1. Church of the east, 0.6 million.
  2. Restoration and Non-Trinitarianism, 42-48 million.
  3. Anglicanism, 85 million.
  4. Oriental Orthodoxy, 86 million.
  5. Eastern Orthodoxy, 225-300 million.
  6. Protestantism, 800 million.
  7. Roman Catholicism, 1.2 Billion.

There will come a time in the future when all these churches will be united under Satan. It sounds incredible that it can be and even the apostle John marveled with amazement in verse 6. But let us look at this scenario in these verses. Five have fallen, refers to the first five churches on the list: Church of the east, Restoration and Non-Trinitarianism, Anglicanism, Oriental Orthodoxy and Eastern Orthodoxy. The one is, refers to Protestantism.

How have these five churches fallen?

First of all, there is a difference between the five that have fallen and the one is. The one is, has not yet fallen and the others have. What is the major difference between the five, and the one is? The one is, which is the Protestant Church, has protested against the Roman Catholic Churches teachings on salvation and doctrines, and their method of teaching the Bible. The following is a list of teachings by the Roman Catholic Church, which the Protestant Church has protested against:

  1. The infallibility of the pope. One who is incapable of erring and one who is unfailing.

The pope is a human being. The Bible says in Rom 3:23 “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” In addition, the book Catholic Power Vs. American Freedom states “the papal doctrine of infallibility was promulgated in 1870 by the first Vatican Council at the insistence of Pope Pius IX. However, it was not suddenly discovered, for, as Pius IX elaborated, it was a “tradition received from the beginning of the Christian faith.” This of course is not true, for there is nothing in the New Testament or the early churches to support it.”[2]

  1. Under the teachings of the apostolic succession, the pope has absolute authority and is the supreme ruler of the church. The apostolic succession cannot be proven. The papacy says they have a list of credentials handed down from the apostle Peter right down to the first pope, however these credentials are false. The supreme ruler of the church according to the Bible is Christ and Christ only. Ephes 5:23.24.
  2. The Eucharist or communion is the time when the bread turns into the body of Christ and the wine turns into the literal blood of Christ by some miraculous event. This has never been proven.

When Christ gave the ordinance of the Communion to his disciples in Math 26:26-28, he is referring to the bread and wine as symbols of his body and blood. When Jesus said “take eat this is my body,” the disciples did not literary eat his body, but they ate bread which was a symbol of his body.

  1. The sale of indulgences. (Lyon 269). Indulgences guaranteed the crusader´s entry into heaven and reduced or abolished his time in purgatory. (Lyon 333). Under Pope Sixtus, there was a need for greater amounts of money in the form of gifts and this led to the peddling of indulgences. There is no text in the Bible referring to indulgences. It is a teaching thought up by the papacy to enlarge the coffers of the Church.
  2. Purgatory is a place of spiritual purging of sins when one has died and on the road to heaven. There is no scriptural reference for this teaching.
  3. Salvation by works and belief in Christ. One is only saved by faith in Jesus Christ and not by works. Ephes 2:8.9.
  4. Forgiveness of sin can only be done by the pope, bishops and priests. This is not scriptural. Only God can forgive sins. Luk 5:21. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.
  5. The papacy say that Gods word from the Bible is no rule of faith. The Bible says 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
  6. The papacy has changed the 10 commandments of God in their own Bible compared to the original Hebrew.
  7. They have ruled out the second commandment saying, “you shall not make for yourself a graven image – – – and you shall not bow down to them or serve them.”
  8. They do not specify what the Lord´s day is, like the Sabbath which is the seventh day of the week.
  9. They have divided the last commandment into two commandments, which is, thou shalt not covet. To compare see Ex 20:2-17 and the Catechism of the Catholic Church at www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism
  10. The papacy has changed the Sabbath day from Saturday the seventh day of the week to Sunday the first day of the week.

Peter Geiermann, The Convert´s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine,. Copyright 1930 by B. Herder Book Co., St Louis. (Q=Question, A=Answer)[3]

  1. Which is the Sabbath day?
  2. Saturday is the Sabbath day.
  3. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
  4. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.

The correct Sabbath is the seventh day of the week on a Saturday installed by God at creation,  Gen 2:1-3.

  1. Veneration of the saints. The Bible says in the ten commandments Ex 20: 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image – any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them.” This includes the worshipping of saints and their images.

12 The immaculation of Mary the mother of Jesus Christ. Immaculation means that the virgin Mary was conceived free from the taint of original sin (in 1854 declared an article of faith of Roman Catholic Church). The Bible says in Rom 3:23 “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This includes the mother of Mary.

The five churches, which have fallen, have inherited many of these teachings from the Roman Catholic Church, and therefore have fallen in the eyes of God. However, the Protestant Church has rejected these teachings, and is therefore “one is” under God´s grace still. But there will come a time, when the Protestant Church will accept these teachings and unite with the Roman Catholic Church and all the other churches worldwide. But this is yet in the future.

“The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abys to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience.”(4)

Rev 17:9-11. Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.

“The other is not yet come,” is referring to the most powerful church on the earth,  the head of the Roman Catholic Church system who is the pope. This again is referring to a future event. When the pope assumes power, like he did during the Middle Ages from AD 538-1798, with the backing of the Protestant church worldwide and all the other churches, then he will make laws preventing true believers in keeping the Ten Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ.

This prophecy is referring to the future, which will be a short time of spiritual leadership over the whole world. The pope is the seventh on the list of the eight spiritual powers of the world. Satan is taking part of the leadership of this church behind the scenes, (1 Thess 2:3-9. Efes 6:12) and is preparing the world to accept himself as the new world spiritual leader in the New World Order.

Satan (The beast) will be the “eighth and is of the seven.” Satan will be the last most influential spiritual leader of this world, before Christs Second Coming. But remember, the text says he will only continue for a short time and then he will go to perdition.

“As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ. The Church has long professed to look to the Savior’s advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in Revelation 1:13-15.”

The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed his disciples when he was upon the earth – – -. He heals the diseases of the people, and then in his assumed character of Christ, he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to hallow the day which he has blessed. He declares that those who persist in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth. This is the strong almost overwhelming delusion.” ((5))

Revelation 9:13-21. Sixth Trumpet https://www.ayindk.com/revelation-913-21-sixth-trumpet/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=revelation-913-21-sixth-trumpet Wed, 10 Jul 2019 08:55:41 +0000 http://ayin.dk/?p=2694 Rev 9:13-21 The Sixth Trumpet

Rev 9:13. Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God.

Which altar is the text referring to: The altar of incense or the altar of burnt offering?

The altar of incense was overlaid with gold.

Ex 40:5. You shall also set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony. (The ark of the Testimony contained the stone tablets written with the Ten Commandments of God on it, in the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle).

The altar of burnt offering was overlaid with bronze.

Ex 38:1.2. He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood: five cubits was its length and five cubits its width – it was square – and its height was three cubits. He made its horns on its four corners; the horns were of one piece with it. And he overlaid it with bronze.

Therefore, the golden altar before God is referring to the altar of incense because it was overlaid with gold, whereas the altar of burnt offering was overlaid with bronze.

The golden altar of incense was situated in the Holy Place of the earthly sanctuary before the curtain and before the ark of the Testimony on the other side of the curtain. So the period of time in history would be between the ascension of Christ into the Holy Place after his resurrection until 1844 when he transferred his work over to the Most Holy Place in heaven.

Rev 9:14. Saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”

One of the greatest mistakes many Bible commentators fall into, is to interpret the river Euphrates literally and not symbolically. Because the river Euphrates is situated in the geographical area of Syria, Iraq and Iran, they explain that the world is soon coming to an end because of the wars taking place in these countries. This brings confusion to the context of the passage.

What is the symbolic meaning of the word Euphrates?

There are only two places were the word Euphrates are mentioned in the book of Revelation: Rev 9:14 and Rev 16:12. Both texts have the same symbolic meaning and that is the border line between God´s people and non-believers. For example:

Rev 16:12. Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its waters was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.

When looking at the traditional Adventist interpretation of the drying up of the river Euphrates: the waters on which Babylon sits on and when it dries up, it means the finances to the city of Babylon have dried up, and there is no longer any support and therefore Babylon collapses.

Questions to the above interpretation.

Does the drying up of the river Euphrates mean drying up of financial support?

Does the River Euphrates mean many waters on which Babylon sits on?

The text used to support this view is taken from Rev. 17:15. The waters which you saw, were the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. This text is referring to Rev 17:1. Come I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.

Do the many waters refer to a rivers or seas in the prophetic writings?

What do many waters mean in the book Revelation?

Rev 1:15. His voice as the sound of many waters. (Refers to the voice of Christ in heaven).

Rev 14:2. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. (Refers to the 144,000 voices in heaven singing a new song verse 3).

Rev 17:1. Come I will show the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.

Rev 17:15. The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues. (These people are related to one voice of praise and worship to the fallen church worldwide, which is opposite to the voices of the 144,000 who keep the Ten Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ Rev 14:12).

Rev 19:6. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunder, saying, Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns.

Conclusion

Many waters are related to the voice of Christ up in heaven and the 144,000 up in heaven. Many waters are related to the 144,000 singing a new song and the voice of the great multitude praising God in heaven.

As regards to the harlot sitting on many waters, this represents the worldwide fallen church singing and praising God through the false teachings they have received from the harlot or worldwide church. These teachings represent the wine of her fornication in Rev 17:3.

The symbolic meaning of the word sea is found in Es 57:20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

In the book of Daniel 7:2.3. Daniel saw in vision: the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other.

The interpretation for the four beasts is in Dan 7:17. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings which arise out of the earth. These kings arose from the wicked populated parts of the earth like Europe and Asia Minor.

As for rivers meaning populated parts of the earth is just speculation and reading into the text what is not there. Rivers when used together with springs of water in prophecy refer to life giving waters like the river of life but certainly not many peoples.

Does the drying up of the river Euphrates mean the drying up of financial support?

There is no Biblical text to support this view.

Analysis of the text Rev 16:12-16.

Verse 12. Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.

Where is the river Euphrates?

In the Old Testament it was situated on the border between Gods people the Israelites, and their enemies. The border lies on the river flowing from the north and east of Israel. The enemies of Israel who lived on the other side of the border where Fx. Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persian etc.

What does it mean when the river Euphrates dries up in the Summer?

It means that when the water has dried up and disappeared, there is no visible border between Israel and their enemies. Hence, their enemies have direct access to attacking Israel during the dry season.

The same interpretation goes for Rev 6:14.15. The release of the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates is symbolically the breaking down of the borders between Christians living in the Byzantine Empire and the Muslims living in the Ottoman Turkish Empire.

Rev 6:15. So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

When the text says, “the hour and day and month and year,” we are talking about prophetic time and not literal time. One literal day is equal to one prophetic year. How do we get this?

Rev 12:6. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. In prophetical writings, one day is equal to one year. Num 14:34, Ezek 4:6. Therefore, when it says in the text “one thousand two hundred and sixty days” this means prophetical 1,260 years. This figure is also equal to “a time, times and half a time” in Rev 12:14. When we add this figure up, we have one time plus two times plus half a time which equals 3½ times. One time is equal to 360 years in prophecy. So 3½ times is equal to 1,260 years. Therefore, these two verses in Rev 12: 6.14, reinforce each other in Biblical prophetic time. In addition, the 42 months in Rev 11:2.3. are also equal to 1,260 years in Biblical prophecy. If we times 42 months with 30 prophetic days for each month, this gives us 1,260 days or prophetic years. Hence, there is harmony in these calculations.

There are 30 prophetic days for each month. We have five months. 5 x 30 = 150 prophetic years.

So these soldiers during the history of the Church persecuted the Church for 150 years.

When and where in the history of the Church did this happen?

We must remember that the Turkish nation as we know it today was also called the Ottoman Empire before 1840.

“In the year 1840 another remarkable fulfillment of prophecy excited widespread interest. Two years before, Josiah Litch, one of the leading ministers preaching the second advent published an exposition of Revelation 9, predicting the fall of the Ottoman Empire. According to his calculations, this power was to be overthrown in  AD 1840, sometime in the month of August; and only a few days previous to its accomplishment he wrote: Allowing the first period, 150 years, to have been exactly fulfilled before Deacozes ascended the throne by permission of the Turks, and that the 391 years, fifteen days, commenced at the close of the first period, it will end on the 11th of August, 1840, when the Ottoman power in Constantinople may be expected to be broken. And this, I believe, will be found to be the case. ` Josiah Litch, in Signs of the Times, and Expositor of Prophecy, Aug 1, 1840.”[1]

What about the prophetic time period in Rev 6:15?

One hour       = 15 prophetic days

One day         = 1 prophetic year

One month    = 30 prophetic years

One year        = 360 prophetic years

This gives a total of 391 prophetical years and 15 days.

“As already stated, Litch set 1299 as the beginning of the fifth trumpet, to be more exact, July 27, 1299, his date for the battle of Bapheum. He gave to this fifth trumpet a period of 150 years. This brought him to July 27, 1449, for the beginning of the sixth trumpet. Adding on 391 years brought him to July 27, 1840. The 15 days carried him over into the month of August of that year. – – – A short time before the expiration of this period he declared that the Turkish Empire would be broken August 11, which is exactly 15 days beyond July 27, 1840.”[2]

“Fall of the Ottoman Empire – The impact of Moslem Turkey upon Europe after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 was as severe as had been the catastrophic conquest of the Moslem Saracens, during the century and a half after the death of Mohammed, upon the Eastern Roman Empire. Throughout the Reformation era, Turkey was a continual threat at the eastern gates of European Christendom; the writings of the Reformers are full of condemnation of the Ottoman power. Christian writers since have been concerned with the role of Turkey in future world events, and commentators on prophecy have seen Turkish power and its decline forecast in Scripture.

For the latter chapter, under `the hour, day, month, year, ` prophecy, as part of the sixth trumpet, Josiah Litch worked out an application of the time prophecy, terminating Turkish independence in August 1840.”[3]

“At the very time specified, Turkey, through her ambassadors, accepted the protection of the allied powers of Europe, and thus placed herself under the control of Christian nations. The event exactly fulfilled the prediction.”[4]

“Under the fifth trumpet a restraint had been placed on the Ottoman power. For a period of 150 years they were not to `kill` but only `torment. ` Now at the beginning of the 391 years the previous restraint was removed, and they were to go forth to `kill. ` History reveals a striking fulfillment to this prophecy. Within a few years of the time when the restraint was removed. The Ottomans had put an end to the Roman Empire in the East.”[5]

This quote from above and from Rev 9:15 and Rev 9:5, is the connecting link between the fifth and six trumpet and is referring to the same power in both trumpets: the Ottoman Empire is allowed to torment for 150 years and then go in for the kill for 391 years.

The Muslim Ottoman empire which later was renamed Turkey, had conquered the Byzantine empire that is the Eastern Roman Empire when they took Constantinople the capital in AD 1453. The Byzantine worshippers were similar to the Roman Catholic Church worshippers who worshipped statues of saints made of gold, silver, brass, stone and wood. Not all were killed in the Byzantine Empire e.g. The Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox Churches are the remnants.  The Ottoman Turkish Empire ended its power to kill a third of mankind after 1840. After 1840 the Ottoman Turkish Empire limped along as the sick man of Europe until the end of the first world war.

Rev 9:16. Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.

This verse is similar to Rev 7:4. And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed. This number is symbolic.

The number of the army of horsemen was two hundred million or myriads in the Greek. This number is also symbolic of all the horsemen who rode to fight for the Ottoman Empire against all the nations surrounding them.

Rev 9:17. And thus I saw the horses in vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone.

We have seen what breastplates of iron mean in Rev 9:9. What do breastplates of fiery red (fiery in the Greek), hyacinth blue (hyacinth in the Greek), and sulfur yellow (sulfur in the Greek) mean?

What do horses mean in prophecy?

Word study on horses in the Bible

Rev 6:2. And I looked and behold a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. (The crown is stefanos in the Greek and is a crown of victory given to military victors in war. In addition, the bow is used for battles and war in this context.)

Rev 19:11. Now I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse. And he who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Verse 12. His eyes were like flames of fire. And on His head were many crowns. Verse 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. Verse 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed him on white horses. Verse 15 Now out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike the nations. (This is without a doubt Christ going to war against all nations who do not believe in Him and he is using a battle sword)

Zech 1:8-11. I saw by night and behold a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were horses: red, sorrel, and white. Verse 9 Then I said, “My Lord what are these?” Verse 10. And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.” Verse 11. So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is resting.” (These horses are not riding into battle and they do not appear to have weapons. They have walked to and fro throughout the earth and behold all the earth is resting. These horses appear to be scouting horses and watching out for the Lord but not battle horses even though they have colors of white, red and sorrel. It is interesting to notice that there is an absence of the pale and black horses as written in Rev 6:)

Zech 6:1-8 Then I turned and raised my eyes and looked and behold, four chariots were coming from between the mountains, and the mountains were bronze. With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses, with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot dappled horses-strong steeds. Then I answered and said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” And the angel answered and said to me, “These are four spirits of heaven, who go out from their station before the Lord of all the earth.

The one with the black horses is going to the north country, the white are going after them, and the dappled are going toward the south country. Then the strong steeds went out, eager to go, that they might walk to and fro throughout the earth. And He said, “Go, walk to and fro throughout the earth.” So they walked to and fro throughout the earth. And He called to me, and spoke to me, saying, “See, those who go toward the north country have given rest to my Rest in the north country.”

(The first thing to notice is the chariots with horses do not have riders riding them. The second point to notice is they do not have weapons and the third point is they are walking and not riding fast. So it is hard to imagine they are battle horses going to war without weapons. Furthermore, these horses with the chariots are spirits walking throughout the earth, analyzing, investigating, watching, and reporting which country is at peace or which country is at war. The north country from Israel was Babylon, and the south country from Israel was Egypt. In addition, pale horses are not mentioned as in Rev 6:).

2 Kings 6:15.16. The context of these verses is that Elisha and his servant were taking refuge in the city of Dothan because the Syrian army were after them. Why? Because Elisha was receiving revelations from God as to the whereabouts of the Syrian army and giving the information to the Israelite king. The Syrian king wanted Elisha captured and so sent his army after Elisha.

Verses 15.16. And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him. “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

The army of the Syrians had horses and chariots. So these are horses ready for battle. The horses and chariots from God up in the mountain were also battle horses because they were chariots of fire ready for battle.

Deut 17:16 (God´s command to Israelite kings) But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you, “You shall not return that way again.” Why? Deut 17:20. That his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right or to the left.

These horses which a king should not have purchased from Egypt were battle horses. King Solomon disregarded this commandment and bought these horses from Egypt. 1 kings 10:26.28. And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt.

Deut 20:1. When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you – – -. (Battle horses).

Ps 20:7. Some trust in chariots, and some trust in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. (Battle horses).

Jerm 8:6. as the horse rushes into battle.

Joel 2:1.4. (Day of the Lord) People coming to Jerusalem like horses and chariots. Verse 5 like a strong people (Babylon) set in battle array. (Battle horses).

Zach 9:10. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; the battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations. (Battle horse).

Rev 6:2. (White horse) He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him and he went out conquering to conquer. (Battle horse and a rider with a crown of victory as used in the military).

Rev 6:4. (Fiery red horse) And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another, and there was given to him a great sword. (Battle horse).

Rev 6:5.6. (Black horse) He who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “— do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Battle horse).

Rev 6:8. (Pale horse) And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. (Battle horse).

Rev 9:7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle.

Rev 9:17.18. I saw the horses in vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red – – – and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and brimstone. By these plagues a third of mankind was killed. (Battle horses).

Rev 19:11. Now I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithfull and True and in righteousness He judges and makes war. (White horse is a battle horse).

Rev 19:14. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed him on white horses. (White horses are battle horses).

Rev 19:19. And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him who sat on the horse and against his army. (White horse is a battle horse).

Rev 19:21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of him who sat on the horse. (Battle horse).

Conclusion

Horses in the Bible are used and related to war, battle, army, to conquer, to kill, death and Hades, hunger, plagues, judgment, military and a new king should not multiply horses but trust in God. In addition, horses without riders and weapons, were used by God to search the earth and see what was happening among the nations. Fx. Zach 1: 6:

What does the words fiery red in prophecy?

Psalm 21:9. You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger. The Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath. (refers to God´s enemies in verse 8).

Dan 3:5.6. You shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up; and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

Dan 7:9. I watched till thrones were put in place and the Ancient of Days was seated – – -. His throne was a fiery flame.

Heb 10:27. But a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Ephes 6:16. (Refers to the Christian´s whole armour of God). Taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

1 Pet 4:12. Beloved, do not think it is strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you – – -.

Conclusion

Fiery is related to wrath, anger, punishment, God´s throne of judgment, indignation, attacks from Satan, trials and sufferings.

There are no words to do a word study on the word hyacinth blue.

A word study to determine what heads mean in prophetic writings of the Bible.

Rev 17:9. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. (Mountains are a symbol of political and religious kingdoms, (Dan 2:44.45), which these seven heads of the worldwide churches are).

Rev 17:10. These (seven heads) are also seven kings.

Rev 17:11 The beast (Satan) is himself also the eighth and of the seven head. (Satan will be the ultimate antichrist to rule the world during the war Armageddon).

Rev 13:1. The seven heads coming out of the sea beast are similar in power and authority to the seven heads on the scarlet beast which is Satan in Rev 17:3.

Dan 7:19.20. Then I wished to know the truth of the fourth beast, verse 20. And the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows. (The fourth beast represents the Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the political kingdoms of Europe springing from the head of the Roman Empire. Horns grow from the head. Head comes before horns in the text and is the center of intelligence and spiritual matters, whereas the horns signify political and military strength).

Rev 4:4. Around the throne were 24 thrones, and on the thrones, I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes and they had crowns of gold on their heads. (These are the spiritual advisors and representatives redeemed from the earth. Math 27:51-53).

  1. Church of the east, 0.6 million.
  2. Restoration and Non-Trinitarianism, 42-48 million.

Conclusion

The word “head” is related to the following: Seven heads are seven spiritual mountains. Seven heads are seven Christian religious kings/kingdoms. The scarlet beast in Rev 17: (Satan) is the eighth and is of the seventh religious head which is antichrist. The four heads from the leopard beast in Dan 7: representing the kingdom of Greece, has a combined political and a mythological religious influence. The head is where the intelligence is situated and is where moral and spiritual decisions are determined. Spiritual advisors. Crowns on heads symbolizes military and religious victory. To sum up, the head is symbolic of the head of the true church or one can be the head of a fallen church or a religious organization.

As regards to the head of a lion. This is a religious organization like the Muslim power, judging the context of the fifth and sixth trumpet. This Muslim power is part of the Ottoman Turkish Empire who use force like a lion, in the name of God, to win converts to their faith.

What does mouth mean in prophecy?

A short word study on the word “mouth” from the book of Revelation

Rev 1:16. He had in his right hand seven stars, out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword – – -. (Ephes 6;17. The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God).

Rev 2:16. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Rev 10:10. Then I took the little book out of the angel´s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.

Rev 11:5. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. (The word of God from the Old and New Testament used during the Middle Ages as a witness).

Rev 12:15. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. (Words of persecution by Satan through the papacy against Protestants through the Middle Ages).

Rev 12:16. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood, which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. (Protestants fleeing their persecution during the Middle Ages were welcomed by words from Protestant countries like North America, England and Holland).

Rev 13:2. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. (The beast represents the papacy, and when the pope speaks to enforce false worship the world, everyone will listen and obey as if it is the voice of God).

Rev 13:5. And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. (“He,” is the papacy who speaks blasphemies against God during the forty-two months or 1260 prophetical years from AD 538-1798: The Middle Ages. The mouth represents persecution against all Bible believers because the papacy had both political and religious power over all Europe).

Rev 13:6. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. (Some of the blasphemies the papacy has claimed are that the pope says he is the vicar for God on this earth. In addition, the priests have the power to forgive sins on this earth, which only God has the power to do. Luk 5:21. Who can forgive sins but God alone?).

Rev 14:5. (Refers to the 144,000). And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Rev 16:13. (The sixth plague). And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. (The dragon represents Satan. The beast represents the papacy in the Roman Catholic Church system. The false prophet represents fallen Protestantism from the USA. They will combine in the future to enforce a false worship which is a global system of religion e.g. New World Order, and gather all people to the battle of Armageddon, against God´s people).

Rev 19:15. Now out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that He should strike the nations. (Words resulting in punishment and destruction upon the wicked from Christ).

Conclusion

Mouth is related to the following: words causing destruction from Christ upon the wicked, God´s word from the Bible which is used to condemn the enemies of God, Satan uses words through the papacy causing persecution against Bible believers during the Middle Ages, Protestants fleeing persecution helped by Protestant nations. The papacy will speak like a lion forcing people to false worship and all will obey, they will speak blasphemies against God, against the tabernacle in heaven, e.g. the pope is God´s vice regent on earth and priests have the work of forgiving people of their sins. No deceit was found in the mouth of the 144,000. The dragon (Satan) speaks lies through the beast and false prophet so as to gather the nations to the battle of Armageddon against God´s people who keep the ten commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ.

Rev 9:19. For the power is in their mouth and in their tails; for the tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm.

What do tails mean symbolically in the Bible?

Rev 12:3.4. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. (This text refers to Satan convincing a third of the angels in heaven through lies that God is unjust unfit to rule in the heavens).

Conclusion

Tail is related to beneath, below, not worthy, fierce anger, lies, and lies again.

What do serpents mean symbolically in the Bible?

Gen 3:1. Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field.

Gen 3:4. Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not die.” (God said in verse 3 to Adam and Eve, if they ate and touched the fruit in the midst of the garden, they will die. The serpent told a lie in opposition to what God said).

Gen 3:13. The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Gen 3:15. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. (Enmity between Satan´s people and God´s people).

Gen 3:15. And you will bruise His head. (Prophecy about Satan crucifying Christ in the future: bruise his head – the head of the Church).

Num 21:6. So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.

Ps 58:4. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent.

Prov 23:32. (Wine) At last it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper.

Jerm 46:22. (Babylon will strike Egypt). Her noise (Hiss) shall go (Flee) like a serpent, for they shall march with an army and come against her with axes, like those who chop wood.

Matt 10:16. Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Matt 23:33. (Christ talking to the scribes and Pharisees). Serpents, brood of vipers. How can you escape the condemnation of hell? Verse 31. Therefore, you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.

Rev 12:9. So the dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – – -.

Rev 12:15. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. (Flood of persecution upon believers during the Middle Ages).

Conclusion

Serpent is related to the following: cunning, lies, opposite to what God says, deception, enmity between Satan´s people and God´s people, Satan will bruise and crucify Christ, poisonous bite of death, hissing when fleeing, wisdom, murder, and persecution.

Rev 9:20. But the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

Only a third of mankind in the Byzantine Empire and Asia Minor were killed by the Muslim soldiers from the Ottoman Turkish empire. The rest of the worshippers of the Byzantine religion which was very similar the Roman Catholic Church in the west, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

A summary of Rev 9:13-19.

Rev 9:13. The time setting for the sixth trumpet is after the crucifixion of Christ and during his work in the Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary, where the golden altar is situated. To be more precise, it is referring to the same power as in the fifth trumpet e.g. Rev 9:5. And they were not given authority to kill them but torment them for five months (150 prophetic years from 1299 to 1449). But in Rev 9:15 this same power was given authority to kill and not torment. So, the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year (391 prophetic years from 1449 to 1840), were released to kill a third of mankind. This aggressive power in the fifth and sixth trumpets is referring the Ottoman Turkish Empire.

Rev 9:14. The drying up of the river Euphrates means that there was no border between Christians in the Byzantine Empire and their enemies which were the Muslims from the Ottoman Turkish Empire. When the border line dried up, the enemy e.g. Muslim soldiers from the Ottoman Turkish Empire went in for the attack against the Christians living in the Byzantine Empire starting at Constantinople and invading Asia Minor.

Rev 9:16. The Ottoman Turks succeeded their quest of conquering the Byzantine Empire through employing millions of Muslim soldiers on horses.

Rev 9:17. The description of the breastplates and horses are not to be interpreted literally but symbolically. The word fiery describes the Muslim soldiers having a religious fervor, wrath and anger related to the teachings they serve from Muhammed their false prophet from A.D.570-632. This wrath created trials and sufferings, indignation and punishment upon their foes the Christians in the Byzantine Empire before it fell. Sulphur is related to God´s punishment and destruction upon the wicked and non-believers. The Muslim soldiers believed they were fighting for God, and therefore took it upon themselves to administer the wrath of God upon non-believers in the Muslim faith.

Rev 9:17. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions. When a lion roars, every creature can hear it in the surrounding area. This represents a religious voice of authority and power and to enforce their teachings upon others non-believers. This is what the Muslim soldiers inflicted upon their enemies.

Rev 9:17. Out of the horse’s mouths came fire, smoke and brimstone (sulphur). Mouth in a negative understanding is related to words causing lies and destruction. It is also related to enforcing people to false worship. The fire, smoke and brimstone are symbols of persecution, wrath, punishment, anger and death, which the Muslim soldiers inflicted upon the Christians in the Byzantine Empire and Asia Minor.

Rev 9:19. Their power is in their mouth and tails which are like serpents having heads. The serpent is symbolic of Satan. The tails and mouths are symbolic of a Satanic power using lies and fierce anger and the Muslim soldiers looked down upon the Christians in the Byzantine Empire.

Rev 9:20. Only a third of mankind in the Byzantine Empire and Asia Minor were killed by the Muslim soldiers from the Ottoman Turkish empire. The rest of the worshippers of the Byzantine religion which was very similar to the Roman Catholic Church in the west, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.
